Your most memorable shot of 2024

[edit]

Happy New Year! As always at the beginning of the new year, I'm inviting you to share your most memorable shot of the past year. Which of your photos stood out in 2024? Which image created special memories that you'd like to share with others? On behalf of the Commons Photographers User Group I wish you, your family, and your friends all the best for 2025. Warmly, --Ailura (talk) 18:05, 14 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Categories for Wiki Loves Monuments in New York

[edit]

Hello, Kevin. I'm working on renaming categories related to New York state and New York City, in line with the discussion at Commons:Categories for discussion/2017/03/Category:New York. In the process of doing this, I saw the subcategories under Category:Wiki Loves Monuments in New York (state). Since you created some of the recent ones, I'd like your input on whether it would cause a problem to rename these. As an example:

  • old name: Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in New York
  • new name: Category:Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 in New York (state)

Do you think there would be any problem with renaming these categories? Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 17:26, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: I think that should be fine! The category name will just need to be updated in all the Wiki Loves Monuments 2016-2024 templates (e.g. Template:Wiki Loves Monuments 2016). Thanks for checking! ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 19:17, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I'll take care of that when I time to concentrate on what I'm doing! -- Auntof6 (talk) 02:46, 5 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Category:WikiPortraits at Málaga Film Festival 2025

[edit]

Hi, shouldn't all the photos here be moved to Category:WikiPortraits at 2025 Málaga Film Festival ?

Thanks, DGtal (talk) 07:59, 15 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

@DGtal: Indeed they should be! I've updated the files and redirected the category. Thanks, ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 16:09, 15 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Uploading pics to National Register Of Historic Places pages in Wikimedia Commons

[edit]

Greetings - We have interacted before. This message concerns a significant number of pics that I have uploaded to the National Register Of Historic Places pages that have never posted, despite the passage of a couple of months. As a test, I have re-submitted some of these images a second or a third time. Is there a concern or issue? Jon Roanhaus (talk) 21:23, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Jon Roanhaus: Nice to hear from you, and thanks for all your uploads of NRHP sites! Is your concern that the photos aren't showing up on Wikipedia? There's no automated process - an editor (either you or someone else) needs to update the respective Wikipedia articles after a photo is uploaded. I see some of your photos have been added to articles, like File:Forsyth Bridge2 NRHP 90000090 Rosebud Counry, MT.jpg (which another editor added to en:Forsyth Bridge, en:National Register of Historic Places listings in Rosebud County, Montana, and and en:List of bridges on the National Register of Historic Places in Montana). For the rest, the quickest way to ensure your photos get used quickly is to edit Wikipedia yourself. I may also take a look this week and see if I can help populate some articles with your photos. Thanks, ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 22:56, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Kevin - Thank you for your very timely reply. I have taken tbe additional step of adding descriptive information to most of my submissions. The missing submissions are NRHP Sites in Missouri, South Dakota, Montana and Spokane, Washington. I do not know how to edit pics directly for posting. Warm regards.
